A great marching band and guard season starts with you! Students cannot perform outside of Potomac Falls High School (including evening football games) without chaperones. We are required to have 1 chaperone for every 10 band/guard members -- for every event. Sign up early for your choice of dates! Volunteers can be family members other than parents/guardians but must be at least 21 years old.

Competition Chaperones -- The Marching Panthers perform at 3-4 competitions a season - chaperone duties include: travel with the band to the site, bring and handing out water bottles, lead groups of students to different parts of the site, assist the band with their uniforms and hats as needed, and encourage them every step of the way!

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS/DESCRIPTIONS (Click to expand section)
Pre-game Meals -- Before every varsity home football game parents plan and serve dinner for the entire Marching Band, Guard and Staff. Allergies and special diets are taken care of thanks to the moms and dads who plan, shop, cook or order, and serve. Volunteers sign up for individual games to help prepare food, or set up, serve, and clean up on game days
Home Game Chaperones -- Set up stadium seating area (seat covers, partitions, water); bring out uniform racks/hats; sit with students during game; clean up seating area after the game
Competition Chaperones -- The Marching Panthers perform at 3-4 competitions a season, including one overnight trip at which a chaperone must commit to both days - duties include: travel with the band to the site, bring and handing out water bottles, lead groups of students to different parts of the site, assist the band with their uniforms and hats as needed, and encourage them every step of the way!
Pit Parents (Home Games and Competitions) -- Help logistics crew with equipment/props before and after show and before and after game
Concessions (Home Games) -- Set up, sell, and clear snacks and drinks in the Band/Guard only mini-concession area during third quarter
Photographer -- Parents are always encouraged to take photos during every part of the band season, but we need a volunteer to help take individual, sectional, and staff photos for the yearly marching band photo book.
Tahoe Driver -- We need parents who wish to go to the band competitions, but don't necessarily want to ride on the band buses! Drive Tahoe/Trailer to performance site, Help logistics crew with equipment/props before and after show. MUST BE TRAINED ON LCPS TAHOE.
Uniform/Concert Attire (Fitting and Upkeep) -- Help with organizing and assigning uniforms, fitting students, alterations, and facilitating dry cleaner pick up and delivery.
We also need volunteers for our fund-raising events:
Tag Day -- Our largest fund-raiser of the year, where the band and guard members go into the community asking for donations for the Band Program. Adults needed are 2 shifts of 10-15 parent chaperone/drivers as well as 3-4 volunteers who help reconcile money and replenish "tag bags". Shifts are: 9am - 12:30pm & 11:45am - 3:30pm.
Car Washes -- One occurs in mid-August during Band Camp and the other in late May after the Band and Guard members, including the rising ninth graders have committed. 2-3 parents are needed to chaperone each 2-hour shift: 10am -12 noon & 12 noon - 2pm.
